WandaVision Episode 8 Reaction
Episode 8: Previously On
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS...what an episode that was. I haven't felt so engrossed in something since at least Mandalorian S2E8 and maybe not since Endgame???? Is that crazy to say?? I loved this episode. Absolutely loved it.
Right from the beginning this episode grabbed my attention. The Marvel Studios logo turning purple for Agatha?? Fantastic little touch. The scene setting Agatha up as an extremely powerful witch was so well done. I thought at first she was going to be sentenced to execution for being a witch as part of the Salem Witch Trials, but what a swing it was to see her being sentenced by fellow witches for doing evil!!! Such a cool twist!!
The memory sequence was absolutely bone chilling and made this whole episode what it was. Seeing Wanda's past traumas not only gave us a true origin story, but also connected us with the character as we see her deal with tragedy after tragedy, losing loved one after loved one. I only wish we could have seen more of those sequences (Vision's death again, Lagos, etc.).
This episode makes you FEEL Wanda's pain. Watching her stand in the empty lot that Vision purchased to build a house they would grow old in together was absolutely heartbreaking. Not to mention that it followed a top 10 saddest line in the MCU "I can't feel you". I almost started crying in the middle of my family room. Just an absolutely heartbreaking moment that was conveyed beautifully by Elizabeth Olsen.
My one criticism of this episode is the last scene where Wanda is given her name. It just didn't feel necessary, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Agatha looks really really cool in that final scene though, and it looks like it is setting up a crazy finale next week. The fact that Agatha, a witch who took down 8? 10? full blown witches earlier while apprehended, was scared of Wanda's pure power says a ton about what Wanda can do.
Speaking of what Wanda can do, the fact that the Vision we see in Westview was ENTIRELY CREATED BY WANDA is insane!!! She didn't steal his body, she created a new one! And so did S.W.O.R.D. potentially?? I mean the post-credits scene is crazy as well! My bet is that they somehow recreated Vision's body, but they needed the mind stone's energy to bring him to life. I don't think that's the original Vision body.
This episode represented exactly what the MCU can do to us as viewers, and I am so excited for next week's finale.
