WandaVision Episode 4 Reaction!!

Season 1, Episode 4: We Interrupt This Program

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! This was by far my favorite episode yet. We are really diving deep into what's REALLY going on, and it's so cool!! We also get great cameos in my opinion from Randall Park as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo and Kat Dennings as Dr. Darcy Lewis. Both of them did terrific jobs in my opinion carrying on their character from their previous appearances. If you've been skeptical of the sitcom style up to this point, this episode is right up your alley. More analysis below with spoilers if you are looking to discuss, or just read someone else's opinion!

WOW right from the cold open of this episode, I was fully invested. We get another scene showing the aftermath of the blip, actually getting to experience a tiny piece of what it was like to reappear through the eyes of Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Captain Marvel's friend Maria "Photon" Rambeau, who passed away 2 years after Thanos's snap in Infinity War. It's so cool to see a more serious scene to build on the lore set up by the comedic effect of Spider-Man: Far From Home. After this awesome cold open, we get to take a look at the S.W.O.R.D. HQ or at least their home base on Earth. Their outer space base is likely where we saw S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury in the post credit scene of Far From Home.  I'm excited to see how S.W.O.R.D. gets developed going forward in the MCU.

In her first mission after reappearing, Monica is assigned to a missing persons case in Westview, New Jersey. There we meet our first cameo of the episode, Agent Jimmy Woo, who previously appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp. I thought Park turned in a great performance in this episode, portraying a clever, but insecure character who jumps at the chance to seemingly share his story with other people. While he wants to do his job well, he more deeply seeks human connection and wants people to like him.

I also really enjoyed Kat Dennings's reprisal of Darcy Lewis, originally from Thor. I thought she was witty, quick, and slightly feministic without shoving it in the viewers' face. I think her character was really fun to watch, and one of the most normal people we've seen focused on in the MCU. She's simply a really smart astrophysicist who knows that she is good at what she does.

What I enjoyed most about this episode is that it gives us a small taste for what has been going on behind the scenes. While we've only seen what has been shown in the fake TV show, there has been so much going on outside in the real world, and we finally get a peek at what that is!! When the show was being promoted, Marvel told us it would have strong connections to the progression of the MCU, and this episode feels like it is really paying off that promise. I loved it, and I can't wait for more.
